Job Summary:

The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the efficient handling, storage and movement of materials within the pharmaceutical warehouse in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP). This includes receiving, inspecting, labeling, binning and issuing raw materials, packaging components and finished goods. The operator is also responsible for maintaining inventory accuracy, completing warehouse documentation, operating material handling equipment and ensuring that all warehouse zones meet hygiene, safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate should have experience in inventory systems, material traceability and working in a regulated warehouse environment with strict adherence to SOPs and quality standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Receive, inspect and support unload incoming raw materials, packaging materials and other supplies into the warehouse.
  2. Check incoming materials against delivery documents and report any discrepancies or damages.
  3. Perform proper labeling, batch segregation and storage of materials in designated areas as per SOPs.
  4. Pick and issue materials to production based on material request forms and in compliance with FEFO/FIFO principles.
  5. Maintain inventory accuracy by conducting routine stock counts and reconciliations.
  6. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks following safety protocols.
  7. Complete all warehouse documentation including bin cards, logbooks and electronic inventory systems.
  8. Participate in cleaning, fumigation and environmental monitoring of warehouse zones.
  9. Assist in the segregation and safe disposal of expired, damaged or rejected materials.
  10. Support audit and inspection readiness by ensuring warehouse compliance with GDP, cGMP and safety requirements.

Academic Qualifications:
Minimum of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE). Certificate or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing, or a related field will be an added advantage.

Experience and Competencies:

  1. Minimum of 3–4 years of experience in a warehouse or inventory management role preferably in a pharmaceutical or FMCG setting.
  2. Familiarity with warehouse procedures, stock handling, and material traceability systems.
  3. Basic understanding of cGMP, Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and workplace safety standards.
  4. Ability to operate material handling equipment and follow SOPs accurately.
  5. Strong organizational and time management skills.
